San Bernardino’s Sustainability Story

The SBCUSD ILC team has focused on developing relationships and intentionally collaborating with people who hold different roles, such as teachers, administrators, and union leaders, and expanded their connections by joining district committees. In turn, these connections increased the number of people in the district who were aware of teacher-led professional development. After surveying teachers and talking with district personnel, they created professional development sessions on a wide range of topics.
Los Angeles USD and Beyond: Ethnic Studies’ Sustainability Story

The ILC Ethnic Studies team in Los Angeles County has spent the past four years hosting workshops for teachers designed to prepare educators to teach ethnic studies courses and develop ethnic studies curriculum. The team is passionate about ethnic studies because they know that the discipline of ethnic studies saves lives and is transformative for all students, especially students of color. They are working hard to spread their passion and experienced ethnic studies instructional practices in Los Angeles, other parts of California, and beyond.
West Contra Costa's Sustainability Story

In West Contra Costa USD, the ILC team is supporting remote learning during the pandemic by producing read-aloud videos in which local educators read culturally relevant literature to be distributed in virtual elementary classrooms. In previous years, they used the “teachers teaching teachers” model to share teachers’ expertise on a variety of topics, including persevering in solving math problems and supporting students with autism in writing.
Nevada County's Sustainability Story

The Nevada County ILC team in Northern California is leading a coordinated effort across seven districts and the county office to develop teacher leader cohorts using UDL inquiry cycles to address problems of practice related to student engagement.
Jurupa’s Sustainability Story

The Jurupa USD ILC team in Southern California is leading a team of teachers to share UDL practices in the district through a “teachers teaching teachers” model. District and site leadership as well as the local union president are supporting their efforts.
Oroville and Chico's Sustainability Story

In Oroville, an ILC team is working with local teacher leaders who will provide all of the Distance Learning Training for Oroville Union High School District teachers in 2020-21. The district is providing funding for these teachers to attend professional learning sessions outside of their work day.
